Job Description
Plan and coordinate daily container drayage operations to ensure containers are collected and delivered within the scheduled time.
Arrange transport routes carefully while following port procedures and transport regulations.
Maintain regular communication with drivers, port staff, warehouses and customers to keep operations moving smoothly.
Track container movements and update the dispatch system with accurate status information.
Review routes and make adjustments when needed to improve efficiency and manage transportation costs.
Address operational issues such as shipment delays, equipment shortages or driver related concerns.
Monitor demurrage, downtime and other related charges and take action to minimize avoidable costs.
Prepare regular operational reports including service performance and activity summaries.
Work with the operations team to identify ways to improve daily dispatch and coordination processes.
Job Requirements
Practical experience in freight forwarding or working in a container dispatch role.
Good understanding of port operations, container handling procedures and transport regulations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve issues quickly and calmly.
Experience using dispatch management systems along with Microsoft Office tools.
Self driven, well organized and able to work effectively within a team.
Flexibility to work early shifts, longer hours or weekends when operational needs require.
